1 – Trump to claim he is ‘presumptive 2024 nominee,’ leader of GOP in CPAC speech
Fox News reports: Former president Donald Trump will claim he is the leader of the Republican party and its “presumptive 2024 nominee” when he makes his first public appearance since leaving office during the Conservative Political Action Conference next weekend in Orlando, according to a report.
A longtime Trump adviser told Axios his CPAC speech will be a “show of force,” and said the message will be: “I may not have Twitter or the Oval Office, but I’m still in charge.” The source reportedly added that “payback is his chief obsession.”
Trump’s advisers will reportedly meet with him at Mar-a-Lago this week to plan his next political moves, and to set up the framework for kingmaking in the 2022 midterm elections.
Trump is expected to go after the 10 House Republicans who voted to convict him in his impeachment trial, spurred by the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, and the seven GOP Senators who voted with Democrats to convict.
He also reportedly plans to argue in the CPAC speech that many of his predictions about President Biden have already come true.
In an interview with Matt Schlapp, chair of the American Conservative Union, on Monday night, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo demanded to know why Trump has been invited to speak at CPAC this coming weekend, and claimed that by allowing Trump to speak, CPAC is “endorsing his election farce.”

2 – Analysis: Democrat Coronavirus Bill Contains ‘At Least $312 Billion’ in Policies Unrelated to Pandemic
Breitbart reports: The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget wrote in an analysis Monday that the Democrats’ coronavirus bill contains at least $312 billion in policies unrelated to the coronavirus.
The Committee released an analysis of the House coronavirus bill, stating that it “…is much larger than the needs of the economy, much of its spending is poorly targeted, it includes a number of measures unrelated to the COVID pandemic and economic crisis, and it would abruptly cut off aid to unemployed workers at the end of August.”
The nonpartisan think tank noted that the bill contains “at least $312 billion of policies that have little to do with the current crisis.” The unrelated policies in the coronavirus bill include:
- $110 billion expansion of the Child Tax Credit. The bill would increase the tax credit from $2,000 to $3,000 and make it fully refundable for one year.
- $23 billion expansion of the Earned Income tax Credit to childless adults for one year. The proposal would expand the tax credit, including those aged 19-24 years-old and over 65 years-old.
- $8 billion expansion of the Child Care and Dependent Care Tax Credit to $4,000, or $8,000 for two or more children, for one year.
- A $58 billion provision giving grants to multi-employer pension plans and changes single-employer pension funding rules.
- A $54 billion provision expanding the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2025.
- A $34 billion expansion of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies to reduce the maximum cost of insurance plans.
- A $16 billion increase of the base Medicaid match rates to states that recently expanded Medicaid under the ACA.
- A $9 billion provision allowing states to expand Medicaid coverage for prisoners close to release and for pregnant and postpartum women for five years.

3 – Biden administration rolls back Trump-era citizenship civics test
CNN reports: The Biden administration is rolling back the controversial Trump-era naturalization civics test, reverting to a prior version of the exam, according to a policy alert published Monday.
US Citizenship and Immigration Services, which administers the test, announced it will go back to using a 2008 version. The agency had received thousands of comments on the Trump administration’s exam, as well as President Joe Biden’s executive order on restoring faith in the legal immigration system.
In December, the Trump administration implemented its revised civics test, which made changes to test content, increased the number of questions for applicants to study, and updated the number of questions applicants had to answer correctly.
At the time, immigration experts warned it could slow down the process and discourage people from seeking citizenship and legal immigration benefits. The Trump-era test may “inadvertently” create potential barriers to the naturalization process, the Biden administration determined.
DML: Oh sure, let’s make it EASY to seek citizenship!
4 – Merrick Garland says he hasn’t ‘thought about’ whether illegal border entry should remain a crime
Attorney General nominee Merrick Garland dodged a number of questions during his confirmation hearing Monday regarding his view on how the Justice Department would enforce immigration law on border crossings if he is confirmed to lead the department.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) asked Garland if believed “illegal entry” into the United States should remain a crime.
“I haven’t thought about that question. I just haven’t thought about that question,” Garland said in response. “I think the president has made clear that we are a country with borders and with a concern about national security. I don’t know if a proposal to decriminalize but still make it unlawful to re-enter. I just don’t know the answer to that question. I haven’t thought about it.”

5 – House Democrats Press Cable Providers on Election Fraud Claims
Democrats want TV broadcasters to stop airing conservative networks such as Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network
The New York Times reports: Three months ago, federal lawmakers grilled Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s chief executive, and Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s chief, about the misinformation that had appeared on their platforms. Now, a congressional committee has scheduled a hearing to focus on the role of companies that provide cable television service in the spread of falsehoods concerning the 2020 election.
In advance of the Wednesday hearing, called “Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media,” members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter on Monday to Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox and Altice, asking about their role in “the spread of dangerous misinformation.”
The committee members also sent the letter to Roku, Amazon, Apple, Google and Hulu, digital companies that distribute cable programming.
The lawmakers’ letter asks the companies, “What steps did you take prior to, on and following the Nov. 3, 2020, elections and the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks to monitor, respond to and reduce the spread of disinformation, including encouragement or incitement of violence by channels your company disseminates to millions of Americans?”
“Are you planning to continue carrying Fox News, OANN and Newsmax on your platform both now and beyond the renewal date?” the letter continues. “If so, why?”
Now these members of Congress want massive corporations like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast to apply some newfound “moral or ethical principles… related to journalistic integrity” in determining what content they allow to be disseminated on their services. What a hoot! pic.twitter.com/s004glbIte

6 – Fauci cautions against dining out, even when vaccinated
Fox News reports: Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top disease expert in the U.S., said Monday that Americans who have received their second vaccine jab should still exercise caution and try to resist the urge to dine out or go to the movies.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was at the White House giving a press briefing on vaccine distribution in the U.S., and said those vaccinated have dramatically increased their own personal safety, but he said the country is “still at an unacceptably high baseline level” of new infection, according to Business Insider.
“I still do not do dining indoors and I still do takeout,” Fauci, who has been vaccinated, said. “I want to continue to support the restaurants in my neighborhood that I would normally go to.”

7 – President Trump releases fiery statement, after the Supreme Court declined to prevent the turnover of his tax records
In a severe blow of defeat for former President Donald Trump on Monday, the Supreme Court declined to step in to prevent his tax records from being handed over to a New York state prosecutor.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., a Democrat, has been trying to obtain Trump’s tax records since 2019, and had subpoenaed over eight years of Trump’s personal and corporate tax records from his accounting firm. The accounting firm agreed to comply with the subpoena, but Trump had filed suit to block the records from being released.
Monday’s decision by the Supreme Court was a severe blow to Trump, and he released the following statement in response on Monday afternoon:
Statement on the Continuing Political Persecution of President Donald J. Trump
This investigation is a continuation of the greatest political Witch Hunt in the history of our Country, whether it was the never ending $32 million Mueller hoax, which already investigated everything that could possibly be investigated, “Russia Russia Russia,” where there was a finding of “No Collusion,” or the two ridiculous “Crazy Nancy” inspired impeachment attempts where I was found NOT GUILTY. It just never ends!
So now, for more than two years, New York City has been looking at almost every transaction I’ve ever done, including seeking tax returns which were done by among the biggest and most prestigious law and accounting firms in the U.S. The Tea Party was treated far better by the IRS than Donald Trump. The Supreme Court never should have let this “fishing expedition” happen, but they did. This is something which has never happened to a President before, it is all Democrat-inspired in a totally Democrat location, New York City and State, completely controlled and dominated by a heavily reported enemy of mine, Governor Andrew Cuomo. These are attacks by Democrats willing to do anything to stop the almost 75 million people (the most votes, by far, ever gotten by a sitting president) who voted for me in the election – an election which many people, and experts, feel that I won. I agree!
The new phenomenon of “headhunting” prosecutors and AGs – who try to take down their political opponents using the law as a weapon – is a threat to the very foundation of our liberty. That’s what is done in third world countries. Even worse are those who run for prosecutorial or attorney general offices in far-left states and jurisdictions pledging to take out a political opponent. That’s fascism, not justice – and that is exactly what they are trying to do with respect to me, except that the people of our Country won’t stand for it.
In the meantime, murders and violent crime are up in New York City by record numbers, and nothing is done about it. Our elected officials don’t care. All they focus on is the persecution of President Donald J. Trump.
I will fight on, just as I have, for the last five years (even before I was successfully elected), despite all of the election crimes that were committed against me. We will win!
