1 – GOP splinters on Trump impeachment as House set to rebuke president yet again with just days left in term
Fox News reports: As the House of Representatives is on the verge of impeaching President Trump for the second time, Republicans in both chambers of Congress are split on whether to support the effort in the tumultuous final days of the Trump presidency.
The House will start to debate the “rule” governing the parameters of the impeachment after 9 a.m. E.T. on Wednesday before taking two procedural votes. Then two hours of actual debate on impeachment will happen during the afternoon before a vote on impeachment, which will only need a simple majority.
The fissure goes from the top of Republican leadership ranks all the way down to the rank-and-file of the party’s lawmakers. And it represents an unraveling after the GOP remained largely united behind Trump for nearly his entire term, despite an impeachment, constant caustic tweets and policies that did not necessarily match Republican orthodoxy.
At least five House members have already said they will vote to impeach Trump, most notably Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., the House GOP conference chair, the third-highest ranking position among House Republicans.
The four other Republicans who have so far said they back impeachment are Reps. Fred Upton, R-Mich.; Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.; Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Wash.; and John Katko, R-N.Y.

2 – Trump YouTube channel suspended over concerns about ‘ongoing potential for violence’
The Hill reports: President Trump’s YouTube channel was temporarily suspended in the wake of deadly rioting at the U.S. Capitol due to violations of the platform’s policies and concerns about the “ongoing potential for violence,” the company said.
The action from YouTube’s administrators left the president’s account unable to post new videos, though previously-uploaded videos remained on the channel. A statement from YouTube released on Twitter indicated that Trump would be unable to post new content for a “minimum” of seven days.
“After review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to Donald J. Trump’s channel for violating our policies. It now has its 1st strike & is temporarily prevented from uploading new content for a *minimum* of 7 days,” reads YouTube’s statement.
2/ Given the ongoing concerns about violence, we will also be indefinitely disabling comments on President Trump’s channel, as we’ve done to other channels where there are safety concerns found in the comments section. https://t.co/1aBENHGU5z

3 – Cuomo announces performance initiative to revive New York’s arts economy
The Hill reports: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) says the state will soon be launching a series of shows and concerts featuring big-name performers — including Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and Hugh Jackman — aimed at reviving the arts economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The series of pop-up performances and events will begin Feb. 4, Cuomo announced Tuesday during his State of the State address. Performances are poised to be held at outdoor sites in New York City and across the state, including at state parks and in so-called “flexible venues” that allow for social distancing measures.
“Almost no one has been hurt more by COVID than our artists,” Cuomo said, noting that the entertainment and culture industry in New York accounts for almost half a million jobs.
“We cannot wait until summer to turn the lights back on for the arts and provide a living wage for artists. We will not let the curtain fall on their careers,” Cuomo said. WATCH at least the first two minutes of the video below:

4 – Google commits a quarter million to cover DACA applications
The Hill reports: Google announced Wednesday that it would be donating $250,000 to cover Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program applications for over 500 immigrants.
The online search giant has been a vocal supporter of the 2012 program which allows shields certain undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children from deportation, joining numerous efforts block President Trump from repealing it.
“For generations, talented immigrants have helped America drive technological breakthroughs and scientific advancements that have created millions of new jobs in new industries, enriching our culture and our economy,” Google’s chief legal officer Kent Walker wrote in a blog post.
“We believe it’s important that Dreamers have a chance to apply for protection under the program so that they can safeguard their status in the United States. But in the middle of a global pandemic that has led to economic hardship, especially for the many immigrants playing essential roles on the front lines, there is concern that many Dreamers cannot afford to pay the application fee.”
Dreamers are critical to the US & it’s urgent that Congress work to protect their status. Many face significant economic hardships due to the pandemic. @googleorg is working with @UNITEDWEDREAM to cover the DACA application fees of over 500 Dreamers. https://t.co/lXqOpGRhRq

5 – Chamber of Commerce to Work with Joe Biden on Expanding Legal Immigration as 18M Americans Jobless
Breitbart reports: Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue says the business group “will work cooperatively” with President-Elect Joe Biden to expand legal immigration levels to the United States in order to fill American jobs with foreign workers as 18 million Americans remain jobless.
At an annual event this week, Donohue outlined the group’s plans to work hand-in-hand with incoming Biden administration officials to expand legal immigration levels beyond their already historic rates, where more than 1.2 million green cards are allotted every year and 1.4 million foreign visa workers are admitted to take American jobs annually.
Donohue claimed that despite 18 million jobless Americans and another 6.2 million Americans who are underemployed — all of whom want full-time work — the U.S. still has “significant labor shortages” and prided himself on suing President Trump in order to continue importing foreign workers during a mass unemployment crisis. He said:
We also have to confront the reality that we have people without jobs and massive amounts of jobs without people. Even if we successfully employed every American willing and able to work, we would still face significant labor shortages—in construction, agriculture, health care, retail, manufacturing, and tech.
We fought vigorously and successfully against actions by the Trump administration to severely limit legal immigration, and we will work cooperatively with the Biden administration to reform our immigration system to meet the needs of our modern economy.

6 – Kamala Harris says Biden’s ‘humane’ immigration plan gives green cards to TPS, DACA recipients
Fox News reports: Vice President-elect Kamala Harris Tuesday said the Biden administration will take a more “humane” approach to immigration when the president-elect takes office next week.
The incoming administration plans to introduce an immigration reform bill that would grant automatic green cards to immigrants with Temporary Protected Status as well as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients – who were brought to the U.S. as children when their parents crossed the border illegally, Harris told Univision.
The plan would include a path to citizenship for millions living in the U.S. illegally. It “creates a path for the majority of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the country to” get citizenship, “first making them legal permanent residents, a status they could access within a period of eight years,” she said, Univision reported.

7 – Twitter silent after Pelosi tweet declaring 2016 election was ‘hijacked’ resurfaces
Fox News reports: A resurfaced May 2017 tweet from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has led to calls for consistency from Twitter as the social media giant continues its efforts to crack down on those skeptical of the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Twitter has been at the center of a political firestorm since it announced Friday that it had banned President Trump from the platform. After slapping Trump tweets that challenged President-elect Biden’s victory with various labels and temporarily suspending him following last week’s riots on Capitol Hill, Twitter stated that the outgoing president would no longer be welcomed back.
However, on the eve of Robert Mueller’s appointment as a special counsel to investigate allegations of collusion between Russian officials and the Trump 2016 campaign, Pelosi tweeted: “Our election was hijacked. There is no question. Congress has a duty to #ProtectOurDemocracy & #FollowTheFacts.”

8 – Hillary gives advice on how Republicans can ‘begin the healing’, old video surfaces
Breitbart reports: Twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday offered advice on how Republicans and the conservative media, specifically, can “begin the healing and unifying process,” demanding that they state that Joe Biden “was duly elected president in a free and fair election.”
“Here’s how elected Republicans and conservative media can begin the healing and unifying process: Accurately state that Joe Biden was duly elected president in a free and fair election. Urge Trump supporters to refrain from further violence. For a start,” Clinton said in a Tuesday tweet to her 30 million Twitter followers.
