Today is October 11 and I am Dennis Michael Lynch. Below are my opinions on the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room, in my opinion. And don’t forget to download the free DML App from the Google Play or Apple App Store to remain connected to me throughout the day.

1-Denver shooting at protest leaves 1 dead; news station’s private security guard in custody
One person was shot and killed, and a local news station’s private security guard was in custody Saturday evening after protests between opposing groups turned violent in Denver’s Civic Center Park, city police said.

The man who was shot was part of a pro-police “Patriot Rally,” according to a report.

“Further investigation has determined the suspect is a private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa,” the Denver Police Department wrote in a Twitter message.

DML: Until these so-called protests of all kinds stop, the incidents will continue. But in the end it all ties to Black Lives Matter; they instigate these other protests whether directly or indirectly.

2-Doctor says Trump no longer at risk of transmitting virus
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump’s doctor said Saturday the president is no longer at risk of transmitting the coronavirus.

In a memo, Navy Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley says Trump meets the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria for safely discontinuing isolation and that by “currently recognized standards” he is no longer considered a transmission risk.

The memo follows Trump’s first public appearance since returning to the White House after being treated for the coronavirus. Hundreds of people gathered Saturday afternoon on the South Lawn for a Trump address on his support for law enforcement from a White House balcony.

DML: Awesome.  How about we all take the president’s experience and come to terms with COVID-19 being a bad flu-like virus that is in no means a reason to shut down a nation.  Lets get the damn masks off too.  Boost the immune system!

3-North Korea unveils new weapons at military parade

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned that his country would “fully mobilize” its nuclear force if threatened as he took center stage at a military parade that unveiled what appeared to be a new intercontinental ballistic missile and other weapons.

Kim, however, avoided direct criticism of Washington during Saturday’s event, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the ruling party and took place less than four weeks before the U.S. presidential election. Instead, he focused on a domestic message urging his people to remain firm in the face of “tremendous challenges” posed by the coronavirus pandemic and crippling U.S.-led sanctions over his nuclear program.

Kim described the North’s continuing efforts to develop its nuclear deterrent as necessary for its defense and said it wasn’t targeting any specific country.

But “if any force harms the safety of our nation, we will fully mobilize the strongest offensive might in a preemptive manner to punish them,” he said.

DML: I thought the rocket man was dying somewhere in a back room. So much for that theory. There will be a day when Trump will be forced to wipe him off the map. Lord knows Biden won’t do it.

4-State struggling after hurricane

Hurricane Delta made landfall Friday evening near the coastal town of Creole, LA with top winds of 100 mph (155 kph). It moved over Lake Charles, a city where Hurricane Laura damaged nearly every home and building in late August.

No deaths had been reported by Saturday evening, but a hurricane’s wake can be treacherous. Seven of the 32 deaths attributed to Laura came the day that hurricane struck. Many others were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning from generators, and 10,000 utility workers were dispatched Saturday to get power restored to thousands of customers.

Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter estimated that hundreds of already battered homes took on water. And people were already exhausted and stressed — for two weeks the Wesleys had been sleeping on their back porch to escape the heat because they had no power.

DML: Leftists want to blame this on climate change, I say it’s Mother Nature doing Her thing, and there is nothing we can do to prevent it from happening. We pray for these folks at TeamDML.

5-New COVID-19 cases surge across US, Europe
Data compiled by Johns Hopkins University shows a jump in new cases in France, Spain and the U.K., where the virus is moving into younger populations and straining health systems at the onset of winter. The data also shows new cases rising 10% or more week over week in at least eight U.S. states.

This week brought rising rates of hospitalization and death from the virus across Europe, along with calls in multiple countries to reimpose lockdown measures that previously had been eased. The surge in new infections was mirrored in the U.S., where several states reported sharp rises in new cases of the virus, including Wisconsin, Illinois and New York.

Over the past week, the U.S. averaged more than 46,000 new confirmed cases of the virus a day. That figure is about 10,000 higher than the average number of new daily infections one month ago.

Unlike the spring and summer, when sharp increases in case numbers were driven by clusters in a handful of cities and regions, the current surge in new cases reflects simmering outbreaks spread out across more than 20 states.

California, Florida, Illinois, Texas and Wisconsin all reported 3,000 or more cases Thursday, according to data from Johns Hopkins. In North Carolina, new cases rose by more than 2,400, similar to levels reached in July during the peak of the pandemic in the state, according to Johns Hopkins. An additional 16 states reported 1,000 or more new cases Thursday, the data shows.

DML: As we enter cold and flu season you can set your clock to the numbers increasing, the key is to be prepared.
