If you joined me for the Walk & Talk today, I explained in great detail about how both the media and special counsel Mueller will play the Don Jr. story going forward. For the media, the narrative will be “Collusion, collusion, collusion” for months to come. They will do this to poke President Trump into a fight — they know he will protect his son using all means he can, including Twitter.
As for Robert Mueller, he will look at Don Jr’s willingness to host the meeting with a Russian lawyer who wants to speak about Hillary Clinton. He will then look at Kushner’s failure to report the meeting ever happened. He will then use it all to push a narrative that says the Trump team was willing to work with the Russians in order to get an upper hand in the election.
Whether this is fair or unfair, true or untrue doesn’t matter. I deal in facts, and the fact is Mueller and his team of Obama loving lawyers will use the Don Jr. / Russian lawyer meeting to prove there was an intent to influence the election.
Meanwhile, there is a guy named James Comey. You remember him, right? He used to serve as the FBI Director, and he admitted to leaking his own memos in order to spark a special counsel to be formed against Trump. That alone is problematic. But now it’s been revealed “that people familiar with the Comey memos” claim the memos included classified materials. Where’s the outrage? Where are the bold headlines?
Although I am a Trump supporter, my allegiance as a news person must be to the truth. Therefore, I will not pretend as if the Don Jr. story is not worthy of headlines. Of course it is. Whether it’s fair or unfair, true or untrue, the fact that the meeting at Trump Tower was not disclosed is headline grabbing for sure. That said, the Comey revelations should be getting just as much coverage as the Don Jr. story. But the MSM is totally ignoring the Comey story. In fact, you won’t find it anywhere on the websites of the most visited liberal outlets.
Fox News is the only website to have the Comey story as its lead. Here are snapshots taken today at 11:30am EDT.
NOTE: the Washington Post did mention the story, but in a way that tosses stones at Fox News.
