President Donald J. Trump shocked the nation with a Thursday tweet about mail-in voting. “With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history,” Trump wrote. “It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???”
Trump is banking on mail delays to help rig the election.
Here’s something that could make this worse.
Many states don’t accept mail ballots that arrive after election day.
This includes *all* swing states except NC.

Heads exploded, and the media insisted that Trump has no authority to do that. Republicans said they would not support such a change, as did Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who tweeted, “Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution states: ‘The Congress may determine the Time of choosing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.’ ”

We asked you: “Do you support Trump’s suggestion to delay the election?” Most readers answered, “No, Trump wasn’t really serious. The election must be held as scheduled.” But nearly as many people answered, “Yes, I support it. Congress should vote to delay the election.”
