Chills. Chills. Chills, and more chills.
I felt chills last night while watching America’s Got Talent.
The scene in our living room is the same every Tuesday evening. My wife and young daughter watch each act on the NBC variety show, and I bury my head in the laptop working on this website.
Every so often, an act will come on and make me lift my head for a few seconds. But my attention will fade and I go back to the laptop. Last night, that changed. One act made me look up and close the lid to the laptop.
I often tell my Walk & Talk audience about my knack for picking out talent and putting my finger on the pulse of America.
To my credit, I picked out two black sisters from obscurity and launched their political careers. They are now known to Trump supporters by the names I gave them in 2015, ‘Diamond & Silk.”
I also picked out Harlan Hill, the young political commentator who now appears on Fox News and CNN as a regular guest.
I first saw Harlan 18-months ago. He walked into my studio with no media experience and barely able to say a steady sentence without using the words “umm” and “you know.”
Even so, right away I spotted Hill’s hidden talent and unique personality — I knew I could help mold him into a TV star.
The owner of Newsmax told me never to put Hill on my show again after his first appearance, but I did not listen. I worked with Hill in various ways for more than a year. Today, not only is he a regular on cable news, but as a result of his media appearances, he was recently asked to be on the Trump re-election committee. One day, Hill will have his own TV news show.
It’s not just politics.
For ten years straight, I correctly picked the winner of American Idol when there were ten contestants to select from. Bottom line, I can spot talent a mile away. That said, last night, an absolute star was born.
“Release me. Please release me.” Those were the words sung by Mandy Harvey, a deaf singer who moved me in such a way that chills took over my body.
Not only is her voice one of the single best I have ever heard, but she used sign language to convey the song to the hearing impaired. Tack on this unbelievable fact… she writes her own music. Her song, “Release Me,” is an original.
Simon Cowell is no dummy. Last night, he saw what I saw and compared Mandy to Adele. He knew he hit gold with Mandy the moment she hit the stage.
Once the talent show is over, whether she wins or not, “Release Me” will be recorded and it will be the number one song in America. Mandy will move on to be the biggest recording star in America — maybe even the world — in the next few years. She will be in movies; she will be the face and voice for those with disabilities; she will be everywhere.
Last night, she was ‘released.’
