I get slammed with emails all day long. I get everything from customer praise to hate mail. And then there are times when I get listed on a blast email. Today was one of those times.
I rarely read the blast emails as they are long winded. But the one I received this morning was one I gave my time.
Ironically, it came in from a guy named Dennis. He CC’d my name to a host of media profiles from Fox News, etc. Here is the email he sent:
“As we all know the crisis at the border is because immigrants are breaking the law trying to enter our country illegally. Because of this illegal act, they are called illegal immigrants.
Seeing the names on the blast email, I knew what most of them would do with Dennis’ blast message…. DELETE.
I felt compelled to respond solely for this reason: Dennis made himself sound as misinformed as the people he was criticizing.
Here is the email I sent to Dennis, and all those folks he had listed on the CC email. I hope everyone soaks in my message and begins using the correct terminology.
“You should really get your facts down before blasting out an email like this one — it totally destroys credibility and effectiveness otherwise. “Illegal immigrants” is as invalid as “undocumented immigrants”. The official, legal, government issued term is “alien.” They are to be referred to as “illegal aliens,” not illegal immigrants.”
Dennis, like all Americans, would be best served to learn how to be the smartest person in the room when discussing immigration. I have made 3 films about the topic titled They Come to America I: The Cost of Illegal Immigration, They Come to America II: The Cost of Amnesty, and They Come to America III: The Cost of Obama’s Legacy. My 4th film, They Come to America IV: The Cost of Politics, is a few weeks away from being done, and I just penned a deal to make a 5th installment to be shot in August. Odds are the film will be called They Come to America: The Cost of Cheap Labor. You can pick up the first 3 films by clicking here.
