DML: I Repsond to 3 Interesting Emails You Sent Me

Each day, I receive thousands of messages and emails. Below are three of them from the past 24 hours, and the response I’ve given to each. NOTE: I do not include the last name of the sender unless they explicitly request that I do so.

1) From Michael:

I read a report from the Washington Examiner that claims Trump is profiting from his resort at Mar-A-Lago in the form of the increased membership fees. They make comparisons to the Clinton foundation pay-to-play scheme in the fact that members can get access to the president nearly every weekend and that Donald is profiting because he has not divested his holdings but merely removed himself from management. I have been a big Trump supporter but this raises concern and I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter. If there is some information missing that debunks this theory I would like to know. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Signed, Michael P.

DML: I cannot confirm when the president profits, and when he does not. I will not speculate on theory. I only know this to be true…

I know someone very well who is in the media industry but could not get access to candidate Trump for a long period of time. This person could not get him or his team to respond to numerous media requests. I have the emails to prove it.

Suddenly, after the election, the person gets access — unbelievable access. Coincidently, that same person now has a membership at Mar-a-Lago. When did this person open that membership?  I do not know the exact date, but I never heard any reference to it being in place prior to the election win.

Keep in mind, this person went from not having the ability to land Trump for an interview — when Trump was sitting down with everyone — to now being seen with the president constantly. Furthermore, he now appears on TV as a “close friend to the president,” and was recently at the White House taking photos with Trump.

This same person donated $1,000,000 to the Clinton Foundation a few years ago and emailed back and forth with John Podesta (see WikiLeaks). During the WikiLeaks firestorm, there was barely any mention of it on this person’s website.  Strange, considering it was the biggest story in the world at the time.

Now, to answer your question in full, “I have no idea.”  I hope not.  Perhaps my story above is pure coincidence, who knows.  If I had an 9th day in the week I’d investigate it, but 8 days on the job is enough for me right now. I’m more concerned about the issues my readers face in their daily lives, like the healthcare bill and deportations.

2) From Marcia:

I appreciate your honesty concerning President Trump even when you disagree with his decision.  But we are all getting slammed with negative news, sometimes rightfully, and it is like your analogy about coke and a smile.  It would be great if with the negative you could speak about something positive each day.  if it is only his crowds at his rally’s, his expected grandson, I have heard he has lowered the deficit(?), bring jobs back or keeping them here, etc.

I  know that he is being blocked at every turn but some positive would be nice.  Thank you for telling it like it is even when it is not good news, at least it is truthful news.

DML: He is not being blocked at every turn. Yes, he gets resistance, but let’s not forget, he has passed several executive orders without the courts interfering.  The last two jobs reports were strong, border crossings are down, and the stock market is up for the year. Good news!  And we’ve reported on all of it.

Unfortunately, there is a bunch of bad news, too. We report all of it, because that’s our job.

3) From Leslie:

DML-  I know that Fox just made a horrible mistake by ousting Judge Napolitano.  I personally think he would make an excellent addition to your staff.  Don’t know if you thought about it, but if you haven’t considered it you might want to.  I know that his salary might be a bit beyond your budget, but then again, with what has happened to him he might want to make a go of it at DML Daily. Just saying..

DML: I’ve appeared on TV with the judge, and I like him a lot. But Fox came out in the past 48 hours and denied reports that they have sidelined the judge. They provided no further information / comment. Something is going on behind the scenes but I’ll bet they hold onto him. Furthermore, we’d never be able to match his salary.
