DML: I Respond to 3 Interesting Emails You Sent Me

Each day, I receive thousands of messages and emails. Below are three of them from the past 24 hours, and the response I’ve given to each. NOTE: I do not include the last name of the sender unless they explicitly request that I do so.

1) From Marge:
Good Morning, Dennis, I have been reading some of the comments on your facebook page, where people are angry, “because they thought you were pro-Trump” and you are saying things that aren’t exactly flattering to the President.  I, for one, found you because I am a Trump supporter, but that is not why I stay with you.   I need to have a place where I can go and know that I will get the truth, even if I don’t like it.  I appreciate all the work that you, Harlan and your staff do to verify that what you are posting is, indeed, truthful.   Keep up the GREAT work.  Marge A

DML: I never say anything “bad” about Donald Trump, the person. I offer opinions based on the actions of the President of the United States. For example, limiting the ban to 6 countries doesn’t work for me; I think it should be more. Removing Iraq from the list, in my opinion, is a bad move. ISIS lives in Iraq in large numbers. Do people want me to applaud the president for removing Iraq? If so, sorry, I will not compromise my opinions to sooth a LIKE on Facebook.  I am Pro-America.

EXAMPLE of a similar situation.: A few years ago I covered a rally for veterans in D.C. Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz showed up and used the rally as a way to speak political talk and grab headlines. They used the mic to slam Obama and Democrats, thus, taking the focus away from the veterans and putting it all on themselves and the in-fighting between Republicans and Democrats.

That night, I appeared on The Kelly File and said neither of them should have attended the event as speakers, or, if they wanted to be there for the vets, they should have spoken about the veterans only. Doing otherwise took the focus off of the rally. In the end, I said, “I have nothing against either one of them, personally. I am not anti-Palin or anti-Trump, I am Pro-America.

Same thing applies here.  I’m sure the people you see slamming me also spend time complaining about “fake news” and not knowing who it is they can believe. This leaves me confused. I am reporting stories and sharing opinions based on the principle of telling the truth and being pro-America. That said, the president won’t always come out smelling like a rose — no president is perfect — and yet the people you mention slam me for that? If I gave them ‘Pro-Trump 24/7,’ I would be the fake. I won’t do that.

2) From Rex:
DML, I supported you through the campaign. You disappoint me every single day you do not do the walk and talk. You have lost touch with your audience.

DML: Rex, I appreciate the follow, and I like to think I offered as much value before the election as I do now that it’s over. I hope you enjoy my reporting. But, Sir, I cannot be available 24/7/365. I have a team, and we share the responsibility of getting news and opinions to you. It’s just simply impossible for me to do it alone.

For example, for the past 4 days I have been traveling the country, mostly by rail, making a film, and preparing to testify in the Bundy trial. Later today, at 11:40 a.m. ET, would you like me to tell the judge I have to take a break for a W&T?

Being ill, being tied up in meetings, being on the road, getting our new place ready for LIVE broadcasts, being a dad and husband … sometimes it prevents me from doing the W&T. I wanted to do one last night, but my schedule changed last second while in Nevada.

I am not losing touch. I am not losing focus. I am simply the victim of life getting in the way of me speaking for 45-minutes at 11:40 a.m. ET each day. I do my best.

I appreciate your passion, Rex! Hang in there. It will get better soon.

3) From Lara:
DML, Do you think the president will make e-verify mandatory and will eventually deport the people her who are not criminals.

DML: Yes, I think he will make e-Verify mandatory. No, I do not think he will deport everyone that is here illegally. I think he will allow people who are here working to remain in the country if they have not committed severe crimes, at least for his first term, anyway.
