FROM KAREN
TODAY’S POLL. I watched with eager anticipation as President Trump addressed the unfolding horror in Charlottesville. When he finished, I thought uh-oh…he just gave all his haters the added fuel they have been waiting for. He did not specifically call out KKK and David Duke. BIG MISTKE. It took hardly any time at all. Trump bashes from the Left and Right certainly did not disappoint. But was President Trump ultimately correct?

The voices of reason have justly pointed out that the Antifa and Black Lives Matter groups are hate groups just like the KKK, and they bear responsibility too. I had never heard of the White Nationalism group, and I am unsure whether they are truly a hate group, but as a general rule of thumb, I feel any group that includes the color of the members skin in their name is not good and is most likely full of haters. President Trump was correct and appropriate to condemn them ALL and to try to unite our country. I pray his call to unity comes to fruition.

DML: For the media to be slamming Trump for his comments, or lack thereof, is just more of the same. Trump remembers the violence at his rallies and how the media overlooked the hate. He doesn’t need to say the names of specific people in order to mean what he says about America coming together. The poll today reflects how upset people are about the media coverage.

FROM BRENDA
Dear DML, What is your opinion or take on the events of the Charlottesville protest yesterday? Who became violent first? Isn’t the antifa group the same people who destroyed property in Washington, D.C. On inauguration day?

DML: I am not for violence. I think it’s easier to hit someone than to laugh at them. That said, it was clear to me that the Left sent in troublemakers to spark a fight. I can’t deny seeing people ripping the American flag out of the hands of people who were at the protest. Since when is the American flag a sign of hate? That said, I do not agree with the hate-filled signage and pro-nazi message that some were pushing. But we must remember, people are free in this country to speak their minds even if we do not agree with the message. From a political standpoint, I can’t overlook how this crap is a continuous flow that started with the Obama administration.  I wrote about it last night.

FROM LAUREN
Hey DML, I was born in 1981, so I am pretty close to being a millennial. I have quite a few friends who are and their responses to Charlottesville are making me want to puke. They are all saying how horrible the white nationalists are and that they are all racists who make all whites look bad. I’m not a white nationalist, so I don’t know what to think about that, but I do know that they aren’t the only racists in the country. These same friends not once spoke out against BLM or ANTIFA. It irks me to the core when everybody throws white people under the bus as being the only racist group. I hate it more when white people do it. White guilt is the most stupid concept to come out of this past election cycle. Personally, I feel that the WN group had every right to protest. But if violence was their intent, shame on them. If it’s true that ANTIFA and counter-protesters were bussed in, why isn’t anyone talking about that?? This all gives the left an even bigger excuse to hate Trump and his supporters. Scary.

I sure hope you get better each day. I’ve been keeping you and your family in my prayers. Can’t wait to see W&T again! Sincerely,  Lauren

DML: I am feeling better thank you. Still have some repairing to do, but a few more weeks will do the trick, I hope. That said, the media has been pushing the anti-Trump message for years now. All Trump voters are haters, all Hillary and Bernie supporters are lovers. It’s a gross message that is far from being true. Unfortunately, the hate will continue for as long as political correctness continues. One side demands everything they want, and the other side is pissed off about the demands.   For example, a school district in Portland just removed the name LYNCH from local schools because it’s a racist name. How ridiculous.
