Each day, we receive a large volume of emails and messages. Today, I respond to three of them plus post some of the photos you sent me.

If you have a photo you’d like me to share, please send it to WeTr[email protected], and if you have a message to send, use the submit news tab at the top of the DML website.

FROM JUDY:
I have a friend who is a small business contractor. He is not a Trump fan and he thinks his taxes are going to jump hugely in the next year. He believes what he hears on the news. I told him you were the only trustworthy person out there but I thought Trump was looking out for small businesses. Am I correct or is he?

DML: Your friend’s taxes aren’t going up next year because of Trump. First of all, the House has a tax bill, but now the Senate needs to do a version of their own, which will be nothing close to what the House proposed. This tax debate will go on for weeks, and then it will run into Christmas; so, odds are, nothing will get done before the new year. But Trump wants to lower the rate for businesses, that’s a certainty. He wanted to lower it to 15% but had to compromise on 20%. That said, depending on where your friend lives, some of the deductions being removed for individuals could impact him if the plan goes through. I don’t have enough information from you to get into details, but overall, it appears your friend is repeating what he’s hearing on TV. Truth is, we don’t know where things will land with taxes. That said, he has a right to be pissed about expenses, in general, because we’re all going to see increases in health care costs.

FROM ARTA:
Mr. Lynch, I voted for President Trump and he is doing pretty good except with Healthcare. I currently have Molina Healthcare of Florida through Obamacare and am paying $73.54 monthly premiums. I received a notice from Molina that my premiums are going up to $657.69 a month in January, a 795% rate hike. I can’t afford to have insurance and I am a cancer survivor and on heart medication, high blood pressure medication and high cholesterol medication. This makes me hesitant to thank you. I won’t be able to afford rent, utilities, car payment, car insurance or food if I am forced to pay this outrageous cost. I have nightmares every night because of all this. Just letting you know what us little people are contending with. God Bless you and yours. Arta

DML: Not sure why you would need to thank me — or not thank me — as it’s not my fault that the president and Congress continue to fail the American people when it comes to health care. But, either way, my heart goes out to you. I wish there was something I could do, but my hands are tied. I too pay crazy premiums for my family of 6, and our deductibles are outrageous. I’m very disappointed with Trump and Congress when it comes to health care. I think they have all dropped the ball. I will not give Trump a pass on this. He has not done enough to force something workable through Congress.

FROM STEPHANIE:
I am getting so discouraged. It is if everyone in Washington DC including Republicans do not want him to succeed. And now with Tom Steyer in CA spending all that money on adds to impeach President Trump, I am getting worried. I was born and raised in California and I am disgusted with the political folks running this state. I cannot believe that we elected Brown not once but twice! I just don’t know how Trump can succeed. Everything he tries to do is shot down. How in the world is Trump going to do the things he promised? Why are there no federal charges against Hillary and Team? At my age (74) I should not care but if Trump cannot be successful we are lost.

DML: In my book, this is a 70/30 split. I blame the GOP for 70% of the stalling. I blame Trump for 30%. He needs to work better with the people he doesn’t like personally. He is not the CEO of D.C. This is not his business; he doesn’t make all the decisions. He needs the help of Congress. So, he needs to tone it down some. I know some of my audience loves his hard-hitting rhetoric and calling some of these guys out in public, but what does it do for us in the end? I think it comes back to hit him in the buttocks because the people he rubs the wrong way end up turning their backs on him. He’s got to change his tone. If not, you’ll end up with nothing.
