The poll results are astounding: nearly all Americans want local police to participate in enforcing immigration laws.

The poll asked the following question: “Do you think local police should assist in cracking down on illegal immigration?”

The poll was posted at DennisMichaelLynch.com on Monday morning, and already it’s receiving more than 31,000 shares. More than 98 percent of people answered “Yes,” and less than 2 percent answered “No.”

Screen Shot 2017-01-31 at 7.53.12 AMWe posted the poll after President Trump said he wants to engage local law enforcement around the country in efforts to uncover and eradicate illegal immigration.

According to the White House, local police agencies can participate in helping the federal government to investigate, apprehend, and detain individuals living in their cities illegally via a 1996 federal law which opened up the opportunity, calling it a “unified approach for stopping terrorists.”

The law was established under the consensus that expanding localized assistance can mean the difference between success and failure in enforcing immigration laws.

If you’d like to participate in the poll, you have until Thursday of this week. Click here to vote.

DML will be sending the poll results to the White House on Friday.
