Full disclosure: Without Fox News providing me a platform to showcase my immigration films, and then inviting me on a consistent basis to talk about the biggest issues facing the United States, odds are I would not be in the news business today.
For a stretch of four years, Fox News was very good to me, and I will forever be grateful to the producers and hosts who embraced me as a valued conservative voice. End of full disclosure.
Fox News used to be a place where conservative pundits and experts could voice their opinions and facts, and where conservative viewers could tune in to hear something other than the liberal voices that dominate the news. But those times appear to be moving towards the rear view mirror.
In my opinion, the wheels started coming off the bus when Megyn Kelly was encouraged to open a presidential debate with questions that offered no value to voters but made for great video clip-sharing the next day. Kelly tried tossing Trump under the bus with nonsense questioning, and it backfired on her because that’s the sort of crap they do over at CNN and MSNBC.
Slowly but surely, over the past two years, I have watched Fox News distance itself from the audience that made it what it was and still is: the number one cable news network. Here’s an example:
Periodically, while in our newsroom at the DML studios, we’ll flip channels to see what is being reported by the major cable networks: CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. There are times when all three seem to be reporting for the Left. I defy you to turn on Fox News at 3 p.m. ET. Close your eyes and just listen to what comes out of the mouth of host Shepard Smith. You will swear you are tuned in to either CNN or MSNBC.
You already know about Bill O’Reilly being let go by the left-leaning Murdochs who gladly take pictures standing with Hillary Clinton. Reportedly, James Murdoch donated a minimum of $1,000,000 to the Clinton Foundation.
That said, imagine you’re one of the left-leaning head honchos over at FOX. You just dumped your number one guy (O’Reilly) and replaced him with your number two guy (Carlson). And on the night when Carlson airs his show for the first time in O’Reilly’s spot, who do you book to make a really big splash… President Bush? President Trump? VP Pence? The Prime Minister of Israel? How about Rush Limbaugh or Steve Bannon? Nope, you book transvestite/transgender Caitlyn Jenner (a.k.a. Bruce Jenner). But wait, it gets worse…
Not only do you invite Jenner — who is no doubt a channel changer for the O’Reilly audience — but then on Tuesday morning, you put up a BLARING NEWS ALERT on the home page of FoxNews.com that pushes an anti-Trump message.
The banner is in blaring yellow and sits ABOVE the headline telling of North Korea’s most recent military exercises. If that isn’t going LEFT, I don’t know what is. Here is the banner:
