It’s a beautiful Sunday morning on Long Island, and I dread the idea of writing this short-winded rant, but I just cannot shake the truth. So here it goes…
When it comes to immigration, I’m tired of the double talk, not just from Trump, but all of DC.
Yesterday, while on my Walk & Talk program, I stopped off at an estate sale.
I took my audience of 3,000 viewers into a home owned by a person who died recently. The house is in the “Hamptons,” and based on its location it’s probably worth $3.5M. In short, the person who owned it was part of the 1%.
While on my little adventure, I exited out the side door of the home and walked towards the backyard where a fence led to a pool area. On the fence was a sign. It read: “Please close the latch slowly or the latch will break. Thank you.”
The problem I have with the sign is that it is written in both Spanish and English, with the Spanish version written first.
Clearly, the person who lived in this home knowingly hired illegal aliens to cut the lawn. Meanwhile, it is widely known that our high school football coach is a landscaper who hires only Americans. He is not alone. The man who cuts my lawn hires only Americans too. So, it’s not like there are no Americans in our area willing to do the “hard work.”
Many of the 1% in this country are the biggest donors to political campaigns. They use their money to influence policy and get away with things the rest of us cannot. I thought Trump’s victory would put an end to this — but it’s not — they remain as powerful as ever when it comes to influencing which laws gets passed, and which laws do not.
Although I cannot blame Trump for losing the battles in healthcare and tax reform, I do hold him accountable on immigration. I would like to see him drain the swamp by cracking down on the people who hire the millions of illegal aliens in the U.S.
I am a capitalist, and I appreciate success on all levels, but what I do not appreciate is the guy or gal who makes their fortunes, and then keep their fortunes, at the detriment of the American worker who struggles to make the rent each month.
We’d all like to have the in-the-ground swimming pool in our backyard. And we’d all like to buy the alligator skin wingback chair (one of the items being sold at the estate sale), but the rule of law is the bedrock of America. Thus, one should not be permitted to break the rules to achieve the riches we all so desire.
If the 1% was to stop hiring illegal aliens both at home, and at the workplace, the immigration issue would no longer be an issue.
I do not blame President Trump for the sign being on the fence. But I do blame him for not doing enough to force the sign to come down from the fence.
He ran on the promise of solving the immigration issue and protecting Americans. But as we close in on his first year in office he and his team are speaking with the Democrats on how to legalize “illegal alien Dreamers” instead of cutting off the jobs magnet.
The president and his administration have avoided doing the single most easiest thing they could do to send the illegal alien population home. The jobs magnet has to be cut off. In the same way Trump is cutting off the money to North Korea, he has to cut off the money to the illegal alien population.
KEEP IN MIND: It’s more than just workers undercutting Americans.
At some point in the near future, perhaps 2024, the Democrats will take back the White House and Congress, and when they do it’s lights out for conservatives. The Dems will give amnesty to the illegal aliens who remain in the U.S. Therefore, if Trump doesn’t cut off the magnet now, then tomorrow it’s game over. With 30 million new liberal voters, the country will never see a Republican president again in our lifetime.
Mr. President, and his pals in DC, need to watch my 90-second fix. Please share if you agree.
