DNC To Build A Wall Around Convention Venue

There will be security restrictions around the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, host to this year’s Democratic National Convention, including some street closures, interstate ramp closures…. and a wall.

NBC News met with Secret Service Special Agent James Henry on Thursday, who discussed steps they will be taking to provide security at the event.

Special no-scale fencing around the Wells Fargo and Xfinity Live! perimeter will be installed.  Details on the type of fencing are not available yet, but reports indicate it could be at least 6 feet tall, perhaps more.   (Senator Jeff Sessions put out a statement regarding the development of a fence, it’s a great read.)

Supporters of Bernie Sanders are planning for a protest outside the DNC and have received approval from the city for 30,000 demonstrators at the park adjacent to the convention venue for the entire week.  THE AREA WHERE DEMONSTRATIONS WILL BE PERMITTED WILL BE OUTSIDE THE FENCED-OFF SECURITY PERIMETER.
