Conservative filmmaker, author, and commentator, Dinesh D’Souza is feeling vindicated about the recent ousting of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara by the Trump administration.

On “Fox & Friends” Monday, D’Souza branded Bharara a “ruthless and very deceitful” attorney who prosecuted him for purely political reasons as one of Obama’s “henchmen.”

In recent days, Bharara has been depicted by some as a political hero due to being “fired” by the Trump administration after refusing to resign with the rest of the 45 U.S. attorneys appointed by Obama.

Bharara, who ran the Southern District office in New York, indicted D’Souza for felony election fraud in 2014, culminating in D’Souza entering a plea bargain and spending eight months behind bars in federal prison.

According to D’Souza, in that case, Bharara “altered the facts” and “conned the judge” in order to lock him away because it is “the kind of deceitful man that he is.”

“No American has ever been convicted or prosecuted, let alone locked up, for doing what I did,” D’Souza emphasized.

D’Souza scoffs at Bharara’s new role as the “media darling,” since having forced the Trump administration to fire him. His appearance on FOX Monday morning was an attempt to set the record straight.

“He’s kind of acting like he’s some sort of martyr … but, of course, presidents have a right to appoint their own guys,” D’Souza said.

“For me, this is actually kind of nice. When I was in confinement, Bharara was laughing. Now that he’s unemployed, I’m kind of laughing.”
