Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and President Trump have forged a friendly relationship, with Sisi praising the American president as a “unique personality who is capable of the impossible.”
Speaking through a translator, Sisi thanked President Trump for keeping Egypt secure, able and stable through strategic cooperation with the U.S. The two leaders met in early April at the White House, and Sisi has invited Trump to visit him in Egypt. Trump graciously accepted his offer.
“He’s done a fantastic job in a very difficult situation,” President Trump said of the Egyptian leader who led a coalition to remove Mohamed Morsi, the President of Egypt, from power and suspended the Egyptian constitution in 2013.
On Sunday, Trump said that the American people were appreciative that an Egyptian-American aid worker, Aya Hijazi, who had been imprisoned in Cairo for three years was released last month.
