According to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, President of the United States Donald J. Trump is not someone she admires enough to invite him to be a guest on her show. The afternoon talk show host suggested that he was dangerous to her as “a gay woman,” and added that the president is the one dividing the nation.

DeGeneres was speaking to Journalist Megyn Kelly, who was on “Ellen” to discuss her evolution as a journalist. Kelly said Trump is the reason the now NBC host left Fox News for a slot in the “Today” show lineup.

Kelly recalled that during the 2016 presidential campaign, she began considering whether she really wanted to continue anchoring a politically-focused show, saying, “Donald Trump has a way of clarifying one’s life choices.”

Kelly’s life choices led her to NBC, where her first venture, “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly,” was canceled prematurely due to poor performance, as reruns playing in the same slot regularly drew more eyes than her show.

Her new morning show, “Megyn Kelly Today,” is set to begin airing on Sep. 25.  NBC executives are said to be concerned about its prospects, wondering if Kelly is a good draw for its daytime viewers.

Kelly told DeGeneres that she’d welcome President Donald Trump on her new show, an event that would be sure to draw ratings, given Kelly’s history of contention with the president.

“Definitely,” Kelly said. “I would not say no to the sitting president of the United States.”

“Really?” DeGeneres said.

“Absolutely not,” Kelly replies. “Would you?”

“Yeah,” DeGeneres responded, receiving massive applause from her studio audience over the declaration.

DeGeneres said she feels she can’t give the sitting president any time on her show:

“I just, you know, he is who he is and he has enough attention and he has his Twitter account and he has ways to get his message across. There’s nothing that I am going to say to him that is going to change him and I don’t want to give him a platform because it just validates him.

“And for me to have someone on the show, I really, I have to at least admire them in some way and I can’t have someone who I feel is not only dangerous for the country and for me personally as a gay woman but to the world. He’s dividing all of us and I think I don’t want him on the show.”
