The defeat of the GOP healthcare bill on Friday was a cause to celebrate for Democrats, but Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) advised his party to tone it down in a Twitter post.
The post read: “Don’t gloat; get ready for round 2. Organize!”
As deputy chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Ellison “condemned the House GOP’s bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare, noting the millions of Americans who were estimated to lose health insurance and the proposed major cuts to Medicaid expansion.”
He also urged Democrats and activists to continue their opposition to Republicans’ plans for healthcare reform.

“The only reason it failed is because a number of Republicans felt that it did not do enough damage,” Ellison stated, adding that another bill will surely be forthcoming. “Democrats, grassroots activists, and millions of Americans who don’t want to lose their coverage must be ready to mobilize like never before.”
President Trump canceled Friday’s vote when it became apparent that the proposed healthcare law wouldn’t be passed. He said another bill was not in the works.
