Emergency services received a 911 call around 9:30 Thursday morning of a naked man climbing a power transmission tower in New Orleans East.

UPDATE: The man who climbed the 14-story electric tower Thursday morning was finally “rescued” by the New Orleans Fire Department and emergency officials about 3:45 pm Thursday afternoon.

After over six hours of trying to talk him down, a ladder truck was finally moved in, and four emergency officials reportedly harnessed the man to a rope to lower him to the ground.

He was then taken to the hospital for an evaluation.   His stunt reportedly resulted in five fire department units and 21 personnel responding to the situation.

ORIGINAL STORY;

Officials are attempting to cut the power, and are trying to talk him down, but he has made no attempt to come down.   As of 2:30 pm central time, the man was about 80-90 feet up onto the tower, creating a very dangerous situation, officials said.

They are not making any effort to force him down, in an effort to prevent any injuries.

Officials have confirmed to news reporters that yes, the man is indeed completely naked.    WVUE Fox 8 News and WDSU are both providing live-streaming video of the incident on their Facebook pages, as seen below.
