According to Jean-Claude Juncker, the EU Commission President, the best way to fight terror is to continue to allow immigrants into Europe.
Not long after the latest terrorist attack that rocked Berlin, Juncker gave an interview with Funke Mediengruppem, Germany’s largest newspaper, on Saturday. The EU boss warned that “rhetoric of exclusion” only strengthens terrorists.
Instead, Juncker called for more EU involvement in nations’ internal security, and stated that Europe’s current policy of immigration “openness” must remain.
Juncker said, “Terror only takes us if we allow it. The basic values for which the European Union stands remain unchanged,” and insisted the continent “must continue to offer refuge to people who flee from war zones and from terror.”
EU Commission president Juncker said, “It would be wrong to put all refugees under suspicion. Hate and terror have no religion, no sex, no country of origin.”
Europe’s populists feel Europe needs to start restricting the massive flow of immigrants from the Middle East and Africa in order to make their continent safer.
Juncker rebutted that idea when he stated, “Anyone who pounces on the rhetoric of exclusion is helping the extremists’ way of thinking, which strengthens their spiral of hate. This neither creates solutions nor helps the victims and their relatives.”
The EU chief said: “Our values, our way of living together in freedom, coexistence, and openness are the best weapons against terror.”
Juncker acknowledged that the present open borders allow for a freedom of movement that currently benefits terrorists, but feels that the cure is a stronger EU, and said, “National domestic policy alone is no longer sufficient.”
Juncker affirmed that, “We must counter the terrorists’ hatred with the values of the population who want to live freely, openly and peacefully with each other. The people with whom I spoke after the attacks in Berlin, Paris, Nice, and Brussels stand for exactly this attitude.
The present European polices on open immigration are in stark contrast to feelings of the “EU elites” and many Western countries.
The Polish Interior Minister, Mariusz Blaszczak, slammed Western Europe’s response to terror, and stated that “holding marches and drawing pictures of flowers — as completely ineffective.”
Blaszczak said, “Multiculturalism, political correctness, and mass migration are responsible for terror attacks in Europe,” and argued that “governments should actually protect their citizens.”
