Since leaving office, President Barack Obama is living like a rock star as he flits in and out of so many luxury retreats around the world that his liberal fan base is getting worried about the optics.

Travel experts are marveling at the level of luxury this former president demands as he takes what some would argue is a much-needed vacation after serving as POTUS for the past eight years. However, no other president in modern-day history has ever embraced his post-presidency vacay in such an elaborate, decadent fashion as Barack Obama.

Here’s a rundown of some of Obama’s swankiest adventures since he left office in late January:

  • Obama visited late actor Marlon Brando’s private island;
  • the Four Seasons in Bali — where rooms cost upward of $2,000 per night;
  • a Palm Springs estate;
  • Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island;
  • the exclusive Mid Pacific Country Club in Oahu;
  • the 13th-century Borgo Finocchieto hotel in Tuscany;
  • David Geffen’s private yacht

“These are some of the most luxurious travel destinations in the world. Many of our clients spend tens of thousands of dollars or more to stay at these resorts, which cater to the most discriminating and demanding guests,” travel expert Kendra Thornton, owner of luxury travel agency Royal Travel told Fox News. “For example, Necker Island has a nightly price tag of $80,000. Anyone who stays at these properties does so because they want the best of the best.”

For instance, the Borgo Finocchieto hotel is more of a private getaway, which consists of a restored medieval hamlet with five villas and 22 bedrooms. Owned by Obama appointee the former John Phillips, who used to be the Ambassador to Italy, Obama and his entourage likely scored a sweet deal on the exclusive resort. And he arrived in style too, having reportedly touched down at a nearby airport in a private jet escorted by six Eurofighter jets from the Italian Air Force.

“These trips are like the lifestyles of the rich and famous,” observed Democratic strategist Pat Caddell, who served as an adviser to ex-President Jimmy Carter. “I think the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, when they see President Obama, whom they instinctively want to defend being the corporatist president, I think it makes the base uneasy,” he added.

Left-wing activists are uneasy as they watch Obama take tens of millions of dollars in fees for speaking to prominent Wall Street firms… after talking about those banker during his previous position with disdain and mistrust.

Meanwhile on television, the liberal media is also starting to get uncomfortable with their former champion living like the one-percenters he used to love to put down. “I’ll tell you who should kick back a little less,” said HBO host John Oliver in an interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night Monday. “This might be controversial – I’m a little sick of seeing photos of President Obama on vacation with Richard Branson. Just tone it down with the kite-surfing pictures. I’m glad he’s having a nice time – America is on fire.”

Oliver noted that if President Obama was accused of being out of touch with the American people during his presidency, “I’m not sure he’s ever been more out of touch than he is right now.”
