Information is resurfacing once again about a essay written in 1972 by Bernie Sanders, which claims that men fantasize about abusing women and women fantasize about being raped.

Mother Jones first exposed the essay in a report dated May 26, 2015, as Sanders was running for the 2016 Democrat presidential nomination.

The Washington Examiner also published a report dated May 30, 2015, and provided the following:

The article, titled “Man — and Woman,” was published in 1972, the first year that Sanders ran for the United States Senate, by the now-defunct Vermont Freeman.

It begins, “A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused.”

“A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously,” Sanders, who recently launched his presidential campaign, wrote.

CNN’s Jake Tapper read a portion of the essay in a news broadcast in 2015, noting how strange it was.  The guest brushed it aside, saying “it will be more relevant when he’s more relevant, and right now he’s not very relevant and probably won’t be either.”  WATCH:

Snopes has confirmed that the essay was written by Sanders, and published in an alternative newspaper Vermont Freeman.
