Minutes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday morning that she had instructed the Judiciary Committee to move forward with articles of impeachment against President Trump, the White House and the Trump campaign blasted out responses.

“Today I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment,” Pelosi declared. “The president’s actions have seriously violated the Constitution. The president leaves us no choice but to act because he is trying to corrupt, once again, the election for his own benefit.”

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham hit back in a fiery tweet.

“@SpeakerPelosi & the Democrats should be ashamed. @realDonaldTrump has done nothing but lead our country – resulting in a booming economy, more jobs & a stronger military, to name just a few of his major accomplishments. 🇺🇸 We look forward to a fair trial in the Senate,” Grisham tweeted.

Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh posted a message from campaign manager Brad Parscale.

The official statement released the Trump campaign reads:

“We are less than a year away from Election Day 2020 and Democrats can’t possibly explain to the American people why they want to take the decision of who should be president out of the hands of voters. But impeaching the President has always been their goal, so they should just get on with it so we can have a fair trial in the Senate and expose The Swamp for what it is. Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Schiff, and Hunter Biden should testify, and then we can get back to the business of our country.”

The Trump campaign also responded to Pelosi’s announcement, bringing out an old video of her saying impeachment is a divisive issue and it would have to be bipartisan if it happens.

“Nancy Pelosi said “unless you have a bipartisan consensus impeachment is a divisive issue.” She does not have a bipartisan consensus but she’s trying to impeach @realDonaldTrump anyway… Pelosi knows she’s being divisive, she just doesn’t care!”
