Trump has received 1,284 years’ worth of free media attention. Next, the left will be screaming, “Media Inequality”. Could it be possible that he has EARNED the public’s attention?
We are all obsessed with Trump – and it’s not just the media – all the social media clicks, comments, likes, shares, tweets and re-tweets count too – whether negative or positive. Social Flow recently issued a report highlighting how the massive media attention has benefited Donald Trump.
There’s no question Donald Trump has received an unprecedented amount of free media coverage. In fact, the NY Times estimates that he has received nearly $2 billion worth of free media so far – which is more than double the $746 million worth of free media coverage Hillary Clinton has received.
According to Social Flow, based on the estimated amount of time someone spends on social media, we have collectively give Donald Trump 1,284 years’ worth of our attention. That means we’ve spent over 11 million hours liking, sharing and commenting about Trump… just on facebook and twitter alone.
None of the other candidates even come close. Hillary Clinton has received 547 years’ worth of social media attention.
But this is nothing new for Donald Trump. In his book, “Crippled America” he writes that “I use the media the way the media uses me – to attract attention. I learned a long time ago that if you’re not afraid to be outspoken, the media will write about you or beg you to come on their shows. If you do things a little differently, they love you. “
Trump says, “The cost of a full-age ad in the New York Times can be more than $100,000. But when they write a story about one of my deals, it doesn’t cost me a cent, and I get more important publicity. I have a mutually profitable two-way relationship with the media – we give each other what we need. And now I am using that relationship to talk about the future of America.”
Perhaps that explains the reason why the American people have KEPT Donald Trump at the top of the media, and why his numbers continue to rise?
