SINKING SPRING, Pa. — On Aug 7,  we reported that Megan Short, the mother of 3 and wife to Mark Short, was found dead in her home alongside her husband and three children in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide.  Reportedly, both a handgun and a suicide note were found next to one of the adults.  Authorities have not yet released more information about who shot the gun.   However, a new development in the case may offer deeper explanation as to why it all happened.

Days prior to the murder-suicide, Megan Short alleged abuse from her husband and posted on Facebook that she was leaving him and thus, needed help moving out of the family’s home on Saturday, the day police discovered the family shot dead.  A neighbor, Angie Burke, told the newspaper she saw the post about a week earlier.
SINKING SPRINGS, PENNSYLVANIA — Mark and Megan Short, and their three young children, one of them being a toddler who survived a heart transplant as an infant, were found dead on Saturday in what investigators believe is a murder suicide.

According to the local District Attorney, John T. Adams,  the Short couple and their kids Liana, Mark and Willow all died from gunshot wounds.  He did not say who they believe carried out the murder suicide.

Willow had undergone a heart transplant as a baby. Her family had been featured in an article The New York Times in 2015 about her condition and the family’s difficulties obtaining anti-rejection medication for her.

According to local news reports, Megan Short did not show up for lunch meeting with a family member.  Police were called by the concerned family member.  When police arrived at the home, they forced their way into the home where they found the dead bodies and handgun next to one of the adults.
