The search for a missing 5-year-old boy from South Pasadena, California sadly continues after nearly two months, but it’s being reported that the child’s father, Aramazd Andressian Sr., 35, was arrested on Friday. He is suspected of having murdered his son in a plot to get revenge on his ex-wife after their “tumultuous divorce,” authorities said Monday.
Investigators said in a news conference that Andressian executed a “pre-planned” killing of his son, Aramazd Andressian Jr. The child was last seen at Disneyland in Anaheim with his dad on April 21. He has since disappeared without a trace, but authorities are hoping to soon get answers from his father, who was found passed out in a park on the night of his son’s disappearance.
Police initially charged him with child endangerment and child abduction, but he walked out of jail a few days after they found no evidence against him. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said that they now know that Andressian had intended to take his own life that night.
Andreassian was arrested in Las Vegas on Friday, after authorities noticed that he had dyed his hair and shaved his beard, which is “behavior inconsistent with that of a grieving parent,” according to police, who picked him up before he could flee.
“My heart is shattered and I will miss my son immensely each and every second of every day for the rest of my life,” said Aramazd’s mother, Ana Estevez, in a statement.
Using her son’s nickname, she said,“Picqui was everything great in my life, and I cannot imagine the emptiness and the void that I will bear until we are together again someday.”
Andressian could face 25 years to life in prison for pre-meditated murder.
