Police in Indianapolis have arrested a former high school teacher on multiple charges including providing drugs for a 17-year-old student, having sex with the student, as well as giving a gun to a second teenage student who she knew was planning on committing crimes.
Kathryn Hagan, 38, worked at Franklin Central High School from January 3 to April 7 when she resigned pursuant to a suspension connected to her crimes.
Hagan was the victim’s algebra teacher. According to reports, she invited him to her apartment on two separate occasions. Hagan gave him the anti-anxiety drug Xanex during the initial visit. Then she had sex with the teenage male the second time he was there.
When a 10-second video of Hagan and the victim nude together surfaced, students planned on blackmailing Hagan for better grades. Hagan discussed this with the second student and gave him a gun and ammunition so he can commit robbery against the potential blackmailers for their cell phones that contained the evidence.
The school board was notified on April 7 by the victim’s mother after she became aware of the situation. The school board released the following statement:
“The Franklin Township Community School Corporation (“FTCSC”) has learned that criminal charges have been filed against former FTCSC teacher, Ms. Kathryn Hagan. Ms. Hagan was hired by the school district in January of 2017 and cleared a full criminal history check prior to being employed. On April 7, 2017 we were shocked to learn of these allegations. We immediately contacted law enforcement and her employment with the district ended the same day. We are fully cooperating with the police investigation. The safety and welfare of our students remains our utmost priority.”
Hagan is being charged with two counts of child seduction and single counts of dealing in a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and dangerous control of a firearm.
