One year ago today, Melania Trump became the First Lady of the United States, as her husband, Donald J. Trump was sworn in as America’s 45th President.
Friday, a poll was released which reported that First Lady Melania Trump has become the most popular member of the Trump family, with 89 percent of Republicans holding a positive view of her, and 48 percent of all adults having a favorable view of her. The poll reflected an overall 43 percent favorability rating for President Trump.
Saturday, Mrs. Trump tweeted out a photo from inauguration day, and wrote, “This has been a year filled with many wonderful moments. I’ve enjoyed the people I’ve been lucky enough to meet throughout our great country & the world!”
Melania Trump is the first naturalized U.S. citizen to become First Lady of the United States. She was born in Slovenia, and immigrated legally to the United States, moving to New York City in 1996. She became a lawful permanent resident in 2001, married Donald Trump in 2005, and obtained her U.S. citizenship in 2006.
Since the Communist Party in Slovenia promoted atheism, Melania was reportedly secretly baptized by a Roman Catholic priest on June 14, 1970.
