Kenny White, 32, was only 10 minutes away from home Wednesday night when he was killed in a senseless “prank,” as a group of teens were throwing rocks onto cars from an overpass across the highway.

White was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit by one of the rocks, as he was riding with a co-worker, coming home from their job as construction workers. The incident occurred about 8:30 Wednesday evening on I-75 in Genesee County, near Flint, Michigan.

Friday it was announced that five local teens, all boys, are now in custody and are facing possible murder charges. The teens have said they were just throwing the rocks “as a thrill,” never intending to kill anyone. They called their game “dinging,” listening for the “ding” as the rocks hit the metal on the vehicles.

WXYZ-TV reported that a local funeral home has offered to provide a funeral free of charge to the family, who is completely devastated by the sudden loss.

“You’re playing Russian roulette with people’s lives,” one heartbroken family member said about the deadly “game.”
