Pulled aside for screening by TSA, woman left her shoes – and 70 pounds of cocaine – behind and ran.
Normally people run through the airport to catch a flight, but one flight attendant ran to escape the airport security in Los Angeles International Airport last Friday evening.
She had been pulled aside by TSA for random screening – obviously something she wasn’t planning on, considering she had 70 pounds of cocaine in her carry-on bag. Reportedly she made a nervous phone call in a language officers did not understand, then kicking off her heels and leaving the bag behind, she fled, running up an escalator the wrong way.
The Los Angeles police officers searched the bag she left behind, and found the 70 pounds of cocaine – about $2 million worth.
It is unknown what airline she worked for, but officials don’t believe this was her first time smuggling drugs through the airport.
“I don’t believe anybody would trust a mule with that amount of dope the first time out,” said a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. “You’re talking about $2 million worth of cocaine…. That’s pretty troubling. This is more than likely not her first time doing this.”
