Flight attendant gets violent with passengers

An American Airlines flight attendant allegedly hit a mom with her baby’s stroller and then threatened to fight another passenger who stood up for the woman. Obviously distraught and weeping, the woman was then kicked off the flight with her two young children, but the flight attendant got back on the plane.

The incident took place on Friday while the flight was boarding at the gate in San Francisco’s airport.

Fellow passenger, Surain Adyanthaya, filmed the woman crying after the altercation when the flight attendant who hit her appeared at the front of the plane. A passenger nearby got out of his seat to confront the airline employee, stating, “You do that to me, and I’ll knock you flat. You almost hurt a baby.’’ The employee replies, “stay out of it.’’ He then goads the passenger, inviting him, “Go ahead and hit me.”

Adyanthaya posted the video, writing, “OMG. Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with a baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby. Then he tried to fight a passenger who stood up for her.’’

The woman and her twin babies are escorted off the plane, but the flight attendant is allowed to board.

American issued a press release saying, “We have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident. We are making sure all of her family’s needs are being met while she is in our care. After electing to take another flight, we are taking special care of her and her family and upgrading them to first class for the remainder of their international trip.”

The airline added, “The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”
