FLOTUS visits group home, then is mocked by shoe website

In a surprise visit on Friday, First Lady Melania Trump made an appearance at a center for domestic violence victims.

The group home, known as HomeSafe, welcomed Mrs. Trump, who spent nearly an hour talking with a group of young women who had all suffered the horrors of child abuse.

The first lady brought Easter baskets and toy Easter bunnies for the younger girls at the shelter.

Speaking with the Palm Beach Post, HomeSafe’s operator Matthew Ladika said the young women were overwhelmed by the experience. “This is a day that the girls will never forget,” said Ladika. “It was extra special and touching.”

In reaction to the style of luxury shoe being worn by the first lady of the United States, Footwear News published an article chiding Mrs. Trump’s appearance. The article discussed Mrs. Trump’s Rene Caovilla footwear, priced at $1,150, the accessories on the sandals, and her activities at HomeSafe.

The publication also mocked the first lady’s exceeding good fortune, stating, “No doubt the children will weigh heavily on her mind on Easter as she enjoys a holiday meal and restful time amid the terra-cotta-roofed Mar-a-Lago, which boasts sweeping oceanfront views nearly 11 miles away.”

The shoe website also threw a jab at President Trump’s numerous consecutive trips to the Mar-a-Lago estate.

“Meanwhile, the commander-in-chief was enjoying a game of golf after arriving at Mar-a-Lago earlier in the day on his seventh ‘working weekend’ at the private luxury estate,” author Charlie Carballo wrote.
