TMZ has obtained surveillance video footage of the Fort Lauderdale Airport gunman, 26-year-old Esteban Santiago. In the footage, Santiago is seen walking among other travelers before pulling out a gun from his waistband and shooting it into the crowd.
None of the reported victims are seen being struck by the fired bullets in the video. After Santiago shoots the gun, he sprints out of the view of the camera, then sprawls out on the ground and waits for police to arrest him.
The former Army National Guard soldier was charged in federal court on Saturday for the death of five people and injuring eight others. It’s been reported Santiago may face the death penalty. According to multiple reports, Santiago has had a history of mental illness, claiming that “ISIS told him in his head” to commit the shooting.
