After President Donald Trump celebrated the firing of former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe on Twitter, former CIA Director John Brennan slammed the president for his commentary on Saturday. According to Brennan, the president is a “demagogue” headed for the “dustbin of history.”

McCabe was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions two days before he would have been eligible for a lifetime pension. He was fired after multiple federal probes and reports showed that he lied to investigators about the bureau’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s private email practices while she was secretary of state.

Trump said McCabe’s ousting was “A great day for Democracy” in a Friday tweet.

Brennan, an Obama appointed CIA director, sent out a tweet in response on Saturday, with harsh words for the president (see tweet below).

Brennan wrote: “When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America…America will triumph over you.”

Fox News reports: Trump has been feuding with FBI leadership since taking office, suggesting top bureau officials are undermining him and his administration – particularly with its investigation into whether his 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia.
