According to former CIA director and former Homeland Security adviser John Brennan, if anyone thinks he had anything to do with the recent intelligence leaks about the Trump administration, they’re not just wrong, they’re “dead wrong.”
Brennan appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, where he claimed that it’s premature for people to start pointing fingers.
Earlier this month, intelligence leaks revealed to The Washington Post that retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn had been discussing sanctions with a Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, prior to Trump’s inauguration.
Flynn resigned from his post after the president discovered he had misled Vice President Mike Pence regarding what had been discussed with Kislyak.

In Sunday’s interview, Brennan stated that the investigation needs to be done in a “bi-partisan fashion,” noting, “If it’s only one party leading this, it is not going to deliver the results that the American people will need and deserve.”
“The White House needs to understand that interaction with the FBI on criminal investigations is something that they really need to stay clear of,” Brennan said, adding, “Any type of engagement between the White House and the FBI about an ongoing criminal investigation was verboten, not just because of the impropriety of doing it, but the appearance that it would provide to folks on the outside that there might be some unwarranted interference in such investigations.”
Brennan said it’s important to stop the leaks of classified information and remarked that they could be coming from “any number of quarters, whether it be the intelligence community, the White House, or Congress…, a lot of people have access to this information.”
