Former CIA head slams Trump: questions his credibility (video)

Reacting to a Washington Post report which claims that President Trump shared highly classified intelligence with Russia, former CIA Director Leon Panetta suggested on Tuesday that the president needs a reality check.

Panetta said White Officials have to take away his Twitter. When the CNN host asked what Panetta would do if the president pushed back because it’s his way of communicating with the American people, Panetta said he would stand up to the president. “The problem that really bothers me is that it undermines the credibility of the office of the presidency. He is president of the United States. He is not a reality TV star. He’s not just another personality. He’s president of the United States,” Panetta said on CNN’s “New Day.”

Calling the president “a loose canon,” President Obama’s former secretary of Defense made it clear that he thinks Trump is not taking his responsibilities as leader of the U.S. seriously. “What bothers me here is that the president of the United States, an office that I respected throughout my life, I just think this president has to understand that he cannot just say whatever the hell he wants and expect that it doesn’t carry consequences.”

In what critics are calling “fake news,” the Washington Post reported on Monday that Trump shared highly classified intelligence with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador last week. It’s a charge the president flatly denies.

“As President, I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining… to terrorism and airline flight safety,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
