Former comms director for Cruz claims “Bannon represents the establishment” (video)

The former communications director for Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign, Rick Tyler, who is now an MSNBC contributor, has accused Steve Bannon, a strategist under President Trump, of being an “establishment voice” in the White House.

Tyler, who was fired from the Cruz campaign in February 2016 for promoting a false story, declared last Friday on the “Morning Joe” program that Donald Trump’s presidency is “effectively over.”

On Tuesday morning, again on “Morning Joe,” the fired communications director focused on recent shake-ups in the Trump administration.

Regarding Anthony Scaramucci’s short 10-day stint as the White House communications director, Tyler said, “If his job was to push out Priebus and Spicer, mission accomplished. That leaves Steve Bannon to represent the establishment.”

On an earlier “Morning Joe” program in June, host Joe Scarborough accused Bannon of being the person who leaked negative details about Jared Kushner.

Sam Stein, a Huffington Post senior politics editor, alleges that Priebus and Spicer could turn around and start leaking negative stories from their time in the White House.

Spicer resigned on July 19 but is still reportedly working at the White House through the month of August.

“When you unceremoniously fire or get rid of your chief of staff, in this case, Reince Priebus, and your press secretary, there is the possibility that they might come around and bite you,” said Stein.

“I’m not saying they’re responsible for The Washington Post story, but you have to wonder … if people are disaffected with your administration, who work in the administration, what kind of stuff they can tell the press,” he added. “I’m sure that’s going on in the minds of Trump people today.”
