Trump is “in impeachment territory,” says David Gergen, former presidential adviser to Reagan, Ford, Nixon & Clinton. Gergen, who is a regular contributor on CNN, pointed out the reasons why he believes President Trump’s presidency is coming apart, and how impeachment is not an unreasonable conversation at this point.
Gergen pointed out he is not a lawyer during his CNN appearance on Tuesday, but he believes there is a strong case for obstruction of justice against Trump.
Gergen is basing his opinions on the “Comey memo” story which surfaced on Tuesday evening. According to the New York Times, there exists a memo written by former FBI Director Comey shortly after his meeting with the president in February. The memo, which was read in part over the phone to a Times reporter by an “unnamed” associate of Comey’s, allegedly suggests that the president asked Comey to drop his probe into General Mike Flynn’s connection to Russia.
