One of Hollywood’s biggest names, especially when it comes to liberal politics and supporting Hillary Clinton, is George Clooney. He helped raise millions of dollars for her campaign in 2016. In fact, Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, hosted a fundraiser for Clinton during her presidential campaign where tickets fetched from $33,400 to $353,400. Supporters of her primary challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders, showed up to protest the event.
However, in an interview with the Daily Beast online publication, Clooney voiced some harsh words about Clinton’s campaign.
The Ocean’s 11 star told the Daily Beast that the way in which she ran her campaign infuriated him. “It was frustrating because I never saw her elevate her game,” declared Clooney. “I never saw it.”
He continued by saying his friends were just as upset. According to Clooney, he had a lineup of progressive pals who said Hillary was not good at running for office, and that her speeches were lackluster.
But the outspoken anti-Trump actor played the discrimination card by suggesting her being a woman was the reason her campaign didn’t result in a November victory. “I think the fact that she’s a woman made it a much harder uphill battle,” he said.
