Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) has been on the sexual harassment bandwagon. On Monday, she called for President Donald Trump to resign over the numerous sexual harassment and assault allegations against him that have resurfaced.

Last month, Gillibrand told The New York Times that she thought Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency due to his extramarital relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

She also expressed shock and disappointment after hearing sexual misconduct allegations against Sen. Al Franken (D., Minn.), saying, “I was very disappointed. But it’s important that survivors are coming out and speaking truth to power, and telling their stories.”

A possible presidential candidate in 2020, Gillibrand went on the defensive after Trump responded to her demand in a Twitter post, calling her a “flunky” for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and saying her comments regarding Bill Clinton were “very disloyal.”

“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!” tweeted Trump on Tuesday morning.

Gillibrand fired back: “You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office.”

On Monday, the senator told CNN’s Christine Amanpour that if Trump does not step down, there should be a congressional investigation into the accusations of women who have said Trump sexually harassed or assaulted them in the past.
