GOP Rep. says attack on Sessions is beneath ‘any held office’

On Tuesday, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) took to twitter and criticized President Trump’s public attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Mr. President, maybe just try a meeting? This is beneath the office – of any held office – from city councilman to POTUS,” Kinzinger’s tweet read.

Early on Tuesday, Trump attacked Sessions for not investigating Hillary Clinton over her private email server. Trump tweeted: “Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!”

The president also attacked Sessions last week for recusing himself from the investigation into Trump’s potential ties to Russian interference in the presidential election, saying he would not have appointed Sessions if he had known he would recuse himself.

Reportedly, Trump is considering replacing Sessions with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) or former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R), but both figures have denied that they are being considered for a replacement.
