Gospel Singer Exposed for Derogatory Comments About Gays and Lesbians

A secretly filmed video tape of famous gospel singer Kim Burrell has surfaced online from a sermon at the Love & Liberty Fellowship Church in Houston, Texas. In the tape, Burrell makes comments regarding homosexual acts as perverted, preaching that “the perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, has deceived many men and women.”

This places Burrell in an awkward situation, since later this week she is expected to perform a duet called “I See Victory” with Pharrell Williams on the talk show “Ellen.” Host Ellen DeGeneres herself is a prominent lesbian in the show business industry.  As of now, executives from the show have made no commentary or public reaction to the controversy.

However, Burrell’s duet partner Pharrell took to Instagram to post a message distancing himself from the acclaimed gospel singer, writing: “I condemn hate speech of any kind.”

Burrell herself has attempted to dilute the comments by speaking on Facebook Live Friday regarding the circulating tape. According to Burrell, apparent “enemies” posted only a portion of her speech online to garner negative attention. “I love you and God loves you,” Burrell said in earnest to gays and lesbians who may be offended. “But God hates the sin.”
