Governor Christie Said No to Trump on Cabinet Posts

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was offered numerous important positions on the Trump team but refused them all.

Christie, according to the Blaze, was offered several Cabinet-level posts, including Secretary of Homeland Security, Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Ambassador to Italy. Christie was also offered a major White House advisory role, but he reportedly didn’t feel any of those jobs were the right fit.

The only post Christie was interested in was the Attorney General post, however that job was eventually handed over to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).

At one point, Christie expressed interest in filling Reince Priebus’s, soon to be vacated position as Republican National Committee boss, but sources say that may not happen.

Governor Christie had a rough last few months of his governorship with the  ongoing Bridge-gate investigation.

Some speculate Trump may have decided to let Christie go last month from his transiition team chairman spot because of his connection to Bridge-gate.

As a governor, Christie’s overall approval rating is record low of 19%, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
