Beyonce’ is married to gangster-style rapper Jay Z. Her latest music video shows her smashing cars with a baseball bat. Her performance at the Superbowl praised the Black Panthers. Beyonce’ is a big fan of the Obamas. And all of this has landed her a day of her own.
The Governor of Minnesota put forward a proclamation that has prompted an outrage from many Minnesotans.
Just hours before the singer’s “Formation” concert Monday night in the Twin Cities, Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Smith proclaimed Monday, May 23, 2016 as “Beyoncé Day” in Minnesota.
In a press release from Governor Dayton’s office Monday, he stated, “Beyoncé has influenced many Minnesota girls and women with the powerful, positive messages in her music, and her impact and success have been widely-recognized.”
Monday was the singer’s fourth time performing in the State of Minnesota.

Fans of recently deceased rock legend Prince – who was born, raised, lived and died in Minnesota – took to social media in a fury, blasting the Governor for making the declaration, when he had never done the same for Prince.
Others referenced her controversial performances which they feel have incited and promoted violence against law endorsement officers.
