These governors are banding against Trump’s decision on climate

The political left is wasting no time aligning themselves opposite Trump on the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate accord.

Governors from California, New York, and Washington, states with some of the most progressives policies on climate, declared their intent to uphold the goals of the climate accord regardless of the President’s stance.

“The president has already said climate change is a hoax, which is the exact opposite of virtually all scientific and worldwide opinion,” California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) said in a joint statement from himself and the other two states’ governors. “I don’t believe fighting reality is a good strategy — not for America, not for anybody. If the President is going to be AWOL in this profoundly important human endeavor, then California and other states will step up.”

The formulation of this inter state coalition dubbed the “U.S. Climate Alliance” by the three Governors comes as no surprise after Brown and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee attended the Paris climate conference in 2015, where nearly 200 nations wrote the pact to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Governor Cuomo of New York also offered his criticism of Trump’s actions stating the US is, “abdicating its leadership and taking a backseat to other countries.”
