Which governors are more popular–Republicans or Democrats?

The voters have spoken, and it’s not good news for Democrats.  In a poll conducted by Morning Consult, over 85,000 registered U.S. voters led Republicans to victory as the most popular governors in the country.

In the number one spot, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker starts off the Republican landslide with a seventy-five percent (75%) approval rating.  The list continues in the Republicans’ favor until number 12, Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Heatstreet reports that even in liberal “strongholds” like Delaware, Democrats have a “14 percent approval deficit when compared to popular Republicans.”

Toward the bottom of the list, Republican governor Chris Christie of New Jersey sits at a paltry 25 percent approval, information that Morning Consult proclaims at the start of the article instead of the overwhelming Republican support.

The top ten governors of the United States:

  1. Charlie Baker, R-MA (75%)
  2. Larry Hogan, R-MD (73%)
  3. Doug Burgum, R-ND (69%)
  4. Phil Scott, R-VT (68%)
  5. Dennis Daugaard, R-SD (68%)
  6. Asa Hutchinson, R-AR (67%)
  7. Gregg Abbott, R-TX & Bill Haslam, R-TN (64%)
  8. Brian Sandoval, R-NV (64%)
  9. Gary Herbert, R-UT (64%)
