The Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad had to be called in to remove professional-grade pyrotechnics from the Long Island, NY home of Thomas Giglio, 39, after neighbors complained that he was setting them off after midnight.
Police arrived at the man’s Massapequa home and were told by Giglio that the fireworks display was part of his wedding party. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of fireworks, including 49 pyrotechnic mortars, a firework display cake and numerous firecrackers.
Several other pyrotechnic displays were also found to have already been used during the large backyard wedding party.
No one was injured, but Giglio has likely learned an expensive, embarassing lesson about setting off professional fireworks without the proper authorization.
