Gun Store Robbery Goes Awry

The owner of Dixie Gun and Pawn in Mableton, Georgia, said he had “no other choice” but to fire back at the two men who attempted to rob his store.

At 11 a.m. on Dec. 26, two armed robbers stormed into Jimmy Groover’s store and one told the 64-year-old grandfather to “get down on the floor or I’ll kill you.”

Feeling like his life was in danger, Groover reached for his pistol, pulled the trigger, and killed one of the suspects.

The other suspect was able to get away, and it is not known if he has yet been caught by police.

“I’ve been doing this 30 years. Nothing like this has ever happened. I never wanted this to happen but I want to go home at night, too,” Groover said.

According to 13MWAZ, the pawn shop has been burglarized about 20 times. Groover had security cameras and bars on the windows installed in an attempt to keep would-be robbers away.

Groover will not be charged for the shooting since he acted in self-defense.

Surveillance footage of the attempted robbery was just recently released and can be seen below:
