According to former FBI Director James Comey’s prepared testimony before the Senate intelligence committee, which was released on Wednesday, President Trump has been absolved of allegations that he colluded with Russia during the election, as well as obstruction of justice, stated Fox News’ Sean Hannity in his opening monologue on Wednesday.

“Comey … told President Trump he was not personally under investigation. Not once, multiple times,” said Hannity, adding, “Now this means … every conspiracy theory you have heard for month after month about President Trump colluding with the Russians … is not true.”

Recalling that Feb. 14 meeting with Comey that took place after national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned — during which Trump reportedly told Comey that Flynn is a “good guy” and made a reference to the FBI investigation of Flynn’s contacts with the Russian ambassador to the U.S., saying, “I hope you can let this go” — Hannity observed that the conversation “doesn’t come anywhere close to obstruction of justice.”

Hannity further noted that Comey was under a legal obligation to report any suspected obstruction of justice to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“If James Comey thought the president was doing something illegal, he had a legal obligation to come forward immediately,” Hannity pointed out. “That’s not what Comey did.”

Hannity also pointed out that unlike Comey’s handling of the probe into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, Comey did not publicly announce that Trump was not under investigation.

“Clinton broke several laws, committed several felonies. But she gets the courtesy of the public announcement [and] the president, who the FBI director told a number of times did nothing wrong [and] wasn’t under investigation, did not get the same treatment,” said Hannity, adding, “That’s ridiculous and Comey, by the way, should be ashamed of himself. This [statement] reads like a political document in every way, shape, manner or form.”
